LITTLE SCHNUFFY UPDATE🥹❤️‍🩹

He’s recovering really well and finally looking much more comfortable. At first he didn’t want to eat because he was in pain and had a sore throat from being intubated, which meant I couldn’t give him all of his pain medication.

But this morning he finally ate some breakfast, had his meds and is now happily chilling in his bed.

Those stitches though… my poor little man.
Thank you again for all the love and well wishes for Schnuffy. It means so much. 🐾

The owners of the cat that attacked Schnuffy have agreed to pay his surgery bill. 🙏🏽

💔 My poor Schnuffy…

I’m absolutely heartbroken.

What you’re seeing in this video is the vets shaving Schnuffy to reveal the injuries he sustained after being attacked by a neighbourhood cat in his own yard. And this is only one side of his body.

Some of the wounds are deep enough that my beautiful gentle boy now needs to be sedated and stitched up.

The part that breaks my heart the most is knowing that he was simply outside, doing his own thing, enjoying the sunshine in his own yard, when he was cornered and attacked.

I heard Schnuffy call out to me during the attack, a sound I will never forget. Schnuffy barely has a meow and I rarely ever hear his voice, so I knew immediately something was terribly wrong. I ran outside and saw this massive cat had him bailed up in the corner of his own yard. Seeing him trapped like that absolutely broke me.

This isn’t the first time this cat has come onto our property or attacked him. I have spoken with the owner on a number of occasions and pleaded with her to find a way to keep her cat safely contained, whether indoors, in a catio or within her own property, because this has happened before.

Unfortunately, nothing changed.

And now Schnuffy is the one paying the price.

Our animals should be able to feel safe in their own homes and yards. Responsible pet ownership isn’t just about keeping your own animal safe, it’s about making sure they aren’t harming somebody else’s.

I also want to say the biggest, most heartfelt thank you to Senja and Shannon at @oakflatsvet

They squeezed Schnuffy in immediately, and are taking such beautiful care of him, and when I completely broke down after seeing the extent of his wounds, they didn’t just comfort Schnuffy, they comforted me too. That kindness meant more than they will ever know.

My little man is now being sedated so his wounds can be properly cleaned and stitched.

Please send some love and healing wishes Schnuffy’s way. He could really use them today.
